Yusuke Tsukatani
Dr. Yusuke Tsukatani studied biochemistry and molecular biology at Tokyo Metropolitan University and received his Ph.D. degree at Osaka University, Japan. Early in his career, his research focused on electron and energy transfer around photochemical reaction centers. After spending postdoc positions at Penn State University and Ritsumeikan University, his research interest centers chlorophyll and bacteriochlorophyll biosynthesis pathways especially in anoxygenic photosynthetic bacteria, such as purple bacteria, green sulfur bacteria, and heliobacteria. His also studies on evolution of photosynthesis. He is currently a senior research scientist at Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC).
