Peter A Philipsen
Peter Alshede Philipsen, M. Sci. EE, Ph.D, is a Senior Researcher at Department of Dermatology, Copenhagen University Hospital – Bispebjerg, Copenhagen, Denmark. His research is focused on skin and light interaction in-vivo. From basic science on how Ultraviolet Radiation (UVR) causes skin erythema and skin cancer, but also the production of vitamin D and melanin in the skin. Peter has investigated personal solar UVR exposure among both the European and Danish population and how to protect against erythema and skin cancer.
His research includes how to use light to measure both immediately and chronical skin changes after UVR exposure, and how these changes are related to skin cancer risk. Peter has been working on optimizing Photo Dynamic Therapy (PDT) for many years and is researching on identifying skin cancer non-invasively by using light-based spectroscopic investigations, like Raman Spectroscopy, and OCT.
