Vivian Chua
I am a Vice Chancellor's Research Fellow (VCRF) at Edith Cowan University (ECU) and a cancer/molecular biology researcher. I obtained my PhD working on a breast cancer research project in 2016 and then trained as a uveal melanoma researcher at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia (USA). My research focuses on uveal melanoma, the deadliest form of adult eye cancers that frequently spread to the liver. Liver tumours are difficult to treat and hence patient survival is often poor. My research aims to study vulnerabilities in subtypes of uveal melanoma that are at high risks of spreading and to uncover more effective treatment strategies to prolong patient survival.
