Vincent SOL
After obtaining PhD in organic chemistry in 1997, I was recruited as an associate professor at the University of Limoges (Laboratoire de Chimie des Substances Naturelles) under the supervision of Professor Pierre Krausz. I developed the synthesis of porphyrins or chlorines coupled to sugars, peptides or polyamines for PDT applications. In parallel, in the early 2000s, I developed the synthesis of photosensitizers for antimicrobial applications. In 2010, I carried out a research placement at the University of Hull (UK) under the supervision of Professor Grahame Mackenzie on the use of sporopollenin for the delivery of active ingredients. I became a Professor in 2011 and will run the Limoges laboratory until 2022. I have developed new complexes (nanoparticles, surfaces, hydrogels, etc.) from natural polysaccharides and functionalized with photosensitizers. We have also developed the hemisynthesis of purpurin 18 derivatives from spirulina maxima. I am the author of 140 publications, 10 patents and since February 2024, I am co-founder of a start-up CURLIM.
