Francisco Galindo
Francisco Galindo received his PhD from Universitat Politecnica de Valencia, Spain, where he studied the photoinduced electron transfer mechanisms of organic reactions under the supervision of Prof. Miguel A. Miranda. Currently, he holds the position of Full Professor of Chemistry at Universitat Jaume I in Castellon, Spain. He leads the research group Photochemistry and Sensors, which focuses on the development and study of organic fluorescent probes for biomedical applications. Special emphasis is placed on reactive oxygen and nitrogen species such as hydrogen peroxide, peroxynitrite, and nitric oxide. Another area of interest is the systematic exploration of organic structures capable of targeting specific organelles within the cellular environment, such as lysosomes and mitochondria. In addition to their work in bioimaging, the group is actively involved in the field of photodynamic inactivation of microorganisms, particularly biofilms, through the development of light-activated polymeric materials.
